Shannan has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and has been facilitating group, pair, and individual classes since 2005. Her practice is rooted in Bihar and Mysore tradition(s) (teachings of Swami Satyananda Saraswati and Pattabhi Jois). She has studied philosophy with various teachers (formally and informally), most recently Eion Finn and Insiya Rasiwala-Finn, and is certified to teach various styles of yoga, including prenatal yoga.
Passionate about making her classes accessible, Shannan explores the 8 limbs, using nature-inspired analogy, rooted in family tradition. With permission, she shares knowledge and skills gifted to her by her teachers and informed by a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology. She truly believes that each practice has the capacity to teach us something new about self, others and the world.

The asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) will vary slightly from class-to-class, as each class will be adapted to those in attendance. Experienced yogis have described this class as a “person-focused acclimatised primary Ashtanga series”. Challenging, but relaxing, this class weaves together yoga philosophy, asana, and breathing exercises, with the aim of facilitating connection and peace.
