STEFANIE NICHOLSON - Reiki Practitioner

Originally from Cape Breton Island, NS, Stef has been offering Reiki energy to clients for the last 15 years. She has always been quite intuitive and in tune with the energetic body. Naturally, she was drawn to the healing energy of Reiki and began her journey as a student of Reiki at age 17. Since then, she has grown immensely as a healer and has had major success with her clients. She decided to establish her practice after a very profound experience as a volunteer healer in 2017. She realized the astounding effect the healing energy of Reiki had on perfect strangers and decided to set up shop at the Dartmouth Yoga studio.

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. Rei meaning universal and Ki meaning life energy (similar to the word Chi in Chinese medicine). Together, the word Reiki means universal life energy. Reiki is a spiritual, vibrational healing practice used to promote balance throughout the human system. It involves the practitioner placing their hands above the client's body to channel healing energy into the client's energetic and physical bodies. Light touch is optional and not required.

Reiki works with the subtle vibrational field within and surrounding the human body, including the chakra system and the aura. Balancing and clearing these energetic systems with Reiki energy can also improve the state of the physical body as well as the mind. Western culture tends to ignore the spiritual body, only focusing on tangible physical ailments. Reiki is based on the principle that treating the energetic field is just as important as treating the physical body. Imbalances and blockages in the spiritual body often result in issues within the physical body. Reiki practitioners believe is important to maintain a holistic approach, treating the mind, body and spirit in order to maintain health and well-being.
