6 week Beginner Yoga Session!

with Jillana Burgess

Fridays, 10-11:15 am

6 week course, *next session starts Feb 18th

If you’ve been on the fence, or meaning to start a yoga practice, or wondering what yoga really is (and isn’t) all about, then this 6 week Introduction is for you.

Our bodies are sculpted around our habits. Old habits create patterns that can either be healthy or unhealthy, but if you’re feeling stuck, physically or mentally, then the only way to get ‘unstuck’ is to create a new habit! In it simplest form, Yoga, is about Being in your Body. When all else falls away, isn’t it nice to just always know you have a Home to come back to.

Body.  Mind. Breath. Your Choice.

This class is for raw beginners, or anyone who is in their first year of yoga practice. We’ll break down each pose, and start from the ground up so that you can build a solid foundation for your practice. Most of the focus will be on Standing poses so that you can learn to access the spine through the length and strength of the arms and legs.  As we learn to establish the Leg actions (our ROOTS to the world) we will begin to understand how to lengthen and extend UP through the Spine to limber up and create more Freedom of movement, and spirit.

Cost: 6 week session, $90

Yoga Kurunta is a method of performing a variety of asanas with the help of a rope to enable the student to attain accuracy, agility and balance. Designed by BKS Iyengar, the rope wall offers support that can allow us to create space throughout the length of the spine. Women’s practice, how to modify your monthly practice

with Jillana Burgess

Saturday, 11:30-1:30pm, next class tbd

Cost: *Pay what you can,

but pre-registration still required!

This two hour class is designed to introduce you to all the ways that you can adapt your yoga practice while on your monthly cycle. Many women assume that they have to skip their yoga practice while menstruating, but in fact this can be the very best time to tune in to your body and deepen your relationship with yourself (aka...the most important relationship there is!)  Modifying your yoga practice at this time can help to relieve the tension and discomfort that often comes with our menstrual cycle, and help us encourage a smoother flow, and healthier cycle on the physical, mental and emotional levels.

During this workshop, you will learn a supportive and restorative sequence that you can practice during your pre-menstrual and menstrual phases.

**Handouts will also be given out so that you can also practice at home.

*No previous yoga experience is necessary.

Please contact Jillana for more information or to pre-register.

The Basic Workshop in Core Shamanism (Weekend)

The Way of the Shaman®
Shamanic Journeying, Power, and Healing

Participants are initiated into shamanic journeying, aided by drumming and other techniques for experiencing the shamanic state of consciousness and for awakening dormant spiritual abilities, including connections with Nature. Participants learn how the journey is utilized to restore spiritual power and health, and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others, and the Planet.

Radical Wholeness, with Philip Shepherd

2020 date tbd! please contact us if you’d like us to keep you on the mailing list for updates

Our deepest yearning is to experience wholeness in our lives - yet too often we feel scattered and off balance. The main source of our fragmentation is that we have been taught to live in our heads. Divided from the breath, the present, and the profound intelligence of our body, we sit in our heads and strain to make sense of it all. This workshop shows you another way of making sense, and helps you experience the body as you never have before. The cornerstone of the Embodied Present Process, this playful weekend provides you with new skills to last a lifetime.

Cost: $250

Yoga Anatomy Basics: The Relationship between Posture and Pain

with Sarah Mackeigan, PT

April 15, 2018 12:30-3pm

Do you have neck or lower back pain?  Perhaps mysterious shoulder or knee pain that has come on slowly, for no apparent reason?  Or maybe you feel “stuck” in part of your yoga practice and aren’t sure why.  Your posture and/or repeated daily movements (including your yoga practice!) may be at the source of your discomfort.    Learn how posture contributes to mechanical pain in the neck, back and extremities; and how shifts in body awareness, alignment and your yoga practice can create a stronger, more stable spine and promote pain-free movement.  Discover how small adjustments in awareness and alignment in common yoga poses can reduce pain and improve overall stability and freedom of movement on and off the mat.

This workshop has both the yoga student and teacher in mind as we cover:

  • Basic anatomy, physiology and osteokinematics (movement of bones) of the spine

  • Common postural deviations and habitual movement patterns in relation to the spine

  • Postural alignment principles and assessment in sitting and standing

  • Exploration and integration of alignment principles in our yoga practice.

Investment: $50
